Membership settings and validations
Configure your payment processor connection and scan membership QR codes for verification.
Settings
Go to Memberships → Settings.
Connecting a payment processor
Before creating membership plans, you must connect Mercado Pago or Stripe.
Steps:
- Click Connect next to your payment processor
- Follow the processor's authorization steps
- Grant Fanz permission to create subscription plans
- Return to Fanz — you're connected
Subscription plans you create in Fanz are synced with your payment processor account. Fanz handles the management, your processor handles the billing.
Available processors
| Processor | Countries |
|---|---|
| Mercado Pago | Argentina |
| Stripe | Coming soon (Stripe-supported countries) |
Validations
Go to Memberships → Validations.
When to validate memberships
Membership validation is optional. Use it when you need to verify membership status at:
- Member-only events
- VIP entrances
- Exclusive areas
Note: For regular events, you don't need separate membership validation. When scanning event tickets, the validation screen already shows if the buyer is a member and if they used a membership discount.
Scanning memberships
Click Scan membership in the top right.
Scan the QR code from:
- The email the member received
- Their Google Wallet or Apple Wallet
Successful scan shows:
- Member name and details
- Membership plan and status
- Active event inscriptions (upcoming events with tickets)
Failed scan shows:
- Error message explaining why it's invalid
- Possible reasons: cancelled, paused, expired
Validation history
The table shows all scanned memberships:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Member | Who was validated |
| Scanned by | Team member who scanned |
| Membership | Plan that was validated |
| Active events | Events the member has tickets for at validation time |
| Date | When it was scanned |
| Status | Success or Failed |
Unlimited scans
Unlike event tickets, membership QR codes don't expire and can be scanned unlimited times. Each scan just verifies current membership status.
Integration with event validation
When validating regular event tickets (see Ticket validation):
- The validation screen shows if the buyer is a member
- Shows if they purchased with a membership discount
- You can identify members vs. non-members without separate scanning
This means for most use cases, you don't need separate membership validation — it's built into ticket validation.
No. Membership validation is optional. Regular ticket validation already shows membership status. Use separate membership validation only for member-exclusive areas or events.
Contact support for help with payment processor changes, as active subscriptions may be affected.
The scan will show as failed with "Expired" status. You'll see why the membership is no longer valid.
Yes. Members can save their membership card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The QR code works the same way.
Owners, Administrators, and team members with validator permissions can scan memberships.
