Referral program
The Referrals tab lets you launch an organic referral program that turns your ticket buyers into promoters. Buyers who refer friends get automatic refunds based on how much they sell.
Important — Don't confuse with RRPPs: The referral program is for buyers (anyone who purchases a ticket). RRPPs are team members you add manually with an invitation link. These are completely separate and independent features: an RRPP sells from their dashboard with their own sale link; a referral is a buyer who shares their automatic link after purchasing to earn refunds. An event can have RRPPs without a referral program, a referral program without RRPPs, both, or neither.
How it works
- Buyer purchases tickets and automatically receives a unique referral link
- They share the link with friends via social media, WhatsApp, email, etc.
- Friends buy using their link and the original buyer earns rewards
- Rewards are processed automatically — 10 days after the event, refunds are sent
Reward tiers (default)
| Referred volume | Reward |
|---|---|
| 3× purchase value | 30% refund |
| 5× purchase value | 50% refund |
| 10× purchase value | 100% refund (free tickets!) |
Example: Pablo buys $200 in tickets → refers $600 in sales → earns $60 back (30% of $200).

Buyer experience
Buyers discover the referral program at multiple touchpoints:
- During checkout: A message explains they can get up to 100% of their ticket money back by referring friends
- After purchase (success page): They receive their unique sharing link plus easy share buttons for social media (WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
- Floating bubble: On the success page, a bubble explains how the referral program works and shows their link to share
- Email notifications: Progress updates when someone buys with their link, milestone celebrations, and refund confirmations
The experience is designed to make sharing effortless and keep buyers motivated to reach the next tier.

Configuration tips
Aggressive tiers (more rewards)
2× → 40%
4× → 70%
6× → 100%
Use for: High-margin events, events needing viral growth
Conservative tiers (less rewards)
5× → 20%
8× → 40%
12× → 80%
Use for: Lower-margin events, already high-demand events
When to use referral programs
Referral programs work best for:
- ✅ One-time events (single date)
- ✅ Large events (500+ attendees)
- ✅ Broad audience appeal (the more people who could potentially attend, the better)
- ✅ Events where attendees know others who'd enjoy it (sports, music, social events)
Not ideal for:
- ❌ Multi-date events — The program is per-date, so it fragments the referral pool
- ❌ Small/niche events — Limited audience means limited referral potential
- ❌ Exclusive events — If attendees don't know others who qualify, they can't refer
Important: Funding refunds
⚠️ You must have funds available in your Fanz account 10 days after the event to process refunds. If your balance is insufficient, refunds won't process and your audience may be upset. Plan accordingly.
Alternative: Create during event creation
You can also enable the referral program in Create event during the initial setup, before publishing.
FAQs
Refunds are 100% automatic. The refund is proportional — meaning Fanz refunds its proportional fee, the payment processor (Mercado Pago/Stripe) refunds its proportional fee, and the rest comes from your balance. You don't need to do anything manually.
At checkout, they see a message about earning refunds. After purchase, they get their unique link with social media share buttons. A floating bubble on the event page shows their progress and goals. They can share via WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, or copy their link directly.
Automatically, 10 days after the event ends. This delay ensures no chargebacks or issues affect the final calculations. Make sure you have funds available in your account.
Refunds won't process if your balance is insufficient. Your audience may get upset expecting their reward. Always ensure you have funds available 10 days after your event.
The referral program is per-date, not per-event. For events with many dates, this fragments your referral pool and reduces effectiveness. It works best for single-date events.
The referrer's progress is updated accordingly. They're notified of the change.
No. Once launched, the program runs until the event ends. Plan carefully before launching.
Each purchase generates its own referral link with independent tracking. Rewards are calculated per purchase.
Referral rewards (refunds) only work for online payments (Mercado Pago/Stripe). Ticket office sales don't qualify for referral tracking.
It works best for one-time events with 500+ attendees and broad audience appeal. We've seen 10-15% sales increases for marathons and up to 20% for parties. For small or niche events with limited audience reach, the impact may be minimal.
They are completely different features. The referral program is automatic for buyers: after purchasing, they get a link to share and earn refunds if others buy with their link. RRPPs are team members you add manually with an invitation link; they sell from their RRPP dashboard with their own sale link and their sales appear in your team reports. An RRPP doesn't need to buy to get their link, and a buyer with a referral link is not part of your team.
