Event add-ons

The Add-ons tab lets you create and sell additional products alongside tickets. Add-ons appear in step 2 of checkout, after ticket selection.

What are add-ons?

Add-ons are extra purchasable items tied to specific tickets. When a buyer selects a ticket that has add-ons, they're offered the option to add them to their cart.

Best use cases:

  • Merchandise (t-shirts, posters, albums)
  • VIP upgrades (meet & greet, backstage pass)
  • Parking passes
  • Food/drink packages (pre-order for collection)
  • Event photos or videos

When add-ons work well

Good for add-onsWhy
MerchandiseBuyers are already engaged and excited
VIP upgradesEasy upsell at checkout
ParkingConvenient bundling
Photo packagesCommitted buyers value memories

When add-ons don't work well

Not idealWhy
Food & drinksPeople prefer buying on-site when hungry
Low-value itemsAdds friction to checkout
Unlimited inventory itemsBetter to sell separately

Tip: Keep add-on options limited (2-4 max) to avoid overwhelming buyers and slowing checkout.

  4. They can add desired quantities (up to purchase limit)
  5. Add-ons are added to cart total
  6. Buyer proceeds to payment

Tracking add-on performance

In General tab

  • Add-ons card: Shows sold / total stock
  • Add-ons validated card: Shows how many were redeemed

In charts

The "Add-ons sold by type" pie chart shows distribution across your add-on types.

Validation

Add-ons have their own QR codes and can be validated separately from tickets. See Ticket validation.

Best practices

Pricing

  • Price add-ons competitively — buyers already spent on tickets
  • Bundle discounts work well (e.g., "Add t-shirt for only $15")
  • Premium add-ons (VIP, meet & greet) can have higher margins

Inventory

  • Set realistic stock limits
  • Monitor sales to avoid overselling
  • Consider production/logistics when setting quantities

Descriptions

  • Keep descriptions short and clear
  • Include sizing info for merchandise
  • Clarify collection details (when, where)

No. Add-ons don't carry any Fanz service charges. The price you set is the final price the buyer pays. This is different from tickets, which have platform and payment processor fees.

No. Add-ons can only be sold online during checkout. If you need to sell something at the box office that would normally be an add-on (like merchandise or parking), create it as a hidden ticket that's only available at the box office.
