Email builder

The email builder is a visual editor for creating custom email designs. Build professional emails using blocks — no coding required.

Opening the builder

When composing an email, click Create Custom Email to open the email builder. You can also choose Use Previous Design to start from a design you've already saved.

The builder preserves any unsaved work — if you close and reopen it during the same session, your changes will still be there.

Block types

Click the Add Your First Block button on a blank canvas to add content. Each block type has specific options.

Text block

Add headings, paragraphs, or any formatted text.

Options:

  • Content — Write or paste your text
  • Insert personalization at cursor — Insert dynamic fields:
    • [Assistant name] — Recipient's first name
    • [Assistant last name] — Recipient's last name
  • Background color — Optional colored background
  • Corner Radius — Rounded corners
  • Block Height — Block height

Image block

Add images (banners, logos, photos) to your email.

Options:

  • Drag and drop an image here or click — Upload an image
  • Alt text (image description) — Description for accessibility
  • Image Dimensions — Set width and height (leave height empty for proportional)
  • Link Settings — Make the image clickable by adding a link
  • Alignment — Left, center, or right (default: center)

Recommended banner dimensions:

Use caseUpload widthDisplay widthSuggested ratio
Full-width hero banner1200 px (retina-ready)600 px2:1 (e.g. 1200×600) or 3:1 (e.g. 1200×400)
Standard banner600 px600 px2:1 (600×300) or 3:1 (600×200)
Logo / smaller image400–600 px200–400 pxAny
  • Recommended max width: 600 px — this is the email's default content width and the industry standard. Uploading at 2× (1200 px) keeps the banner crisp on retina displays.
  • Editor presets: Auto, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 px (the width slider goes up to 600 px).
  • Height: leave it on Auto to preserve the aspect ratio. Available presets are 100, 150, 200, 300, 400 px.
  • File size: keep under 1 MB for best performance (technical limit: 5 MB).
  • Formats: JPG, PNG, or GIF.
  • Maximum dimensions: 9000×9000 px.

Tip: If you increased the email's Content Width in Settings (up to 1200 px), you can upload a banner up to that width. Always leave the height on Auto so the image scales proportionally on mobile without distortion.

Button block

Add call-to-action buttons.

Options:

  • Button text — What the button says
  • Button Link — Where it links to
  • Button Colors — Background and text color
  • Corner Radius — Rounded corners
  • Button Size — Width and height

  • Width — Line width (percentage)

Yes. When creating a new campaign, click Use Previous Design to select any previously saved email design.

JPG, PNG, and GIF. Keep images under 1MB for best performance. The technical per-file limit is 5MB and the maximum dimensions are 9000×9000 px.

The recommended width is 600 px (the email's default content width). For sharp results on retina displays, upload at 2×: 1200 px wide. The most common aspect ratios are 2:1 (e.g. 1200×600) or 3:1 (e.g. 1200×400). Leave the height on Auto in the editor to preserve the aspect ratio and scale cleanly on mobile. Ideal file size: under 1 MB. Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, or GIF.

Fields like [Assistant name] are placeholders. When the email is sent, they're replaced with each recipient's actual data.

600px is the industry standard. It ensures your email displays correctly across most email clients.

No. The builder uses a block-based system for consistency and deliverability. Use the available blocks to create your design.

If you close the builder and reopen it in the same session, your unsaved changes are preserved. If you choose to leave the composer entirely, you'll be prompted to save, discard, or continue editing.

In the send options, select the Schedule Later card. Date and time controls will appear beneath it — set your desired send time, then confirm.
