Event discounts

The Discounts tab lets you create and manage promotional codes for this specific event date. Unlike global discount codes in Settings, these are scoped to one event date.

  • Edit: Open the discount in edit mode (all fields editable)
  • Deactivate: Makes the code invalid but keeps the data visible
  • Delete: Permanently removes the discount

Creating a discount

Click "Create discount" in the top right. The form includes:

Select which tickets this discount applies to. By default, all tickets are selected.

Create multiple codes

The code buyers will enter (e.g., SUMMER20). Automatically formatted to uppercase letters and numbers, no spaces.

EndWhen ticket sales end, or scheduled date/time

How discounts work

For buyers

  1. Buyer enters the code in checkout
  2. If valid, discount is applied to eligible tickets
  3. Only one discount code per purchase

Pre-applied discounts

Share the "Copy URL code" link so buyers don't need to manually enter the code — it's automatically applied when they visit.

Best practices

When to use discounts

GoalStrategy
Early birdTime-limited discount, ends 2 weeks before event
Influencer promoUnique codes per influencer for tracking
Flash saleShort validity (24-48 hours), aggressive discount
Group salesMin order = 4+, moderate discount
VIP accessCode reveals hidden ticket type

Don't overdo it

  • Limit discount codes: Too many devalues your event
  • Strategic timing: Launch discounts during slow sales periods
  • Track performance: Deactivate underperforming codes
  • Protect margins: Calculate your break-even before setting percentages

2×1 and 3×2 promotions

These are highly effective for events:

2×1 (50% discount):

  • Min order: 2
  • Max order: 10 (or your limit)
  • Buy in multiples: On
  • Result: Buyer must purchase 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10 tickets

3×2 (33% discount):

  • Min order: 3
  • Max order: 12
  • Buy in multiples: On
  • Result: Buyer must purchase 3, 6, 9, or 12 tickets

FAQs

No. Only one discount code per purchase.

Yes. Changes only affect future uses. Past purchases keep their original discount.

Deactivate keeps the discount visible with its metrics. Delete permanently removes it.

Create a ticket with "Only visible with discount code" enabled, then create a discount assigned to that ticket.

Use global discount codes in Settings → Discount codes for multi-event promotions.

No. Discount codes only work for online purchases. For box office sales with discounted prices, create a separate ticket rate with the discounted price and hide it from online sales (visible only at box office).
