Countries, Currencies and Payment Methods

Before creating your first event it helps to know where Fanz operates, which currencies you can sell in, and which payment processor you will be able to connect based on your brand's country. This guide summarizes those rules and the requirements to publish.

Available countries

When you create your brand you choose a country. Today Fanz lets you register brands in:

CountryUsual selling currency
ArgentinaARS (Argentine peso)
MexicoMXN (Mexican peso)
United StatesUSD (US dollar)
SpainEUR (euro)
Guatemala

Note: Paraguay is not available as a brand country. If you operate from Paraguay, you currently cannot register a brand with that country or connect a local payment processor.

Currencies

The currencies that exist on the platform are ARS, EUR, USD, MXN, COL and UYU.

In practice, the currency of your tickets is defined by the payment processor you have connected and your brand's country:

  • Mercado Pago (Argentina) → ARS
  • dLocal (Mexico) → MXN
  • Stripe (Spain) → EUR
  • Stripe (United States) → USD

COL and UYU appear in the platform's currency list, but they do not correspond to any of the countries you can currently select when creating a brand.

Payment processor by country

Processors are connected from Settings → Payments. The options you see depend on your brand's country:

Brand countryProcessor you can connect
ArgentinaMercado Pago (plus Mercado Pago for memberships)
SpainStripe
United StatesStripe
MexicodLocal

Guatemala appears as an available country, but it has no processor you can connect on your own from Settings → Payments. If your brand is based in Guatemala, contact the Fanz team.

Note: You cannot pick a processor from another country. For example, an Argentine brand cannot connect Stripe, and a Spanish brand cannot connect Mercado Pago.

Payment methods that do not need a processor

Besides the online processor, the platform handles other types of payment that require no external connection:

  • Ticket office: in-person sales you or your team record from the dashboard (cash or other methods you collect yourself).
  • Courtesy: free tickets sent from the dashboard.
  • Free: zero-price tickets the buyer claims from your site.

These methods let you operate, but they do not replace the requirement of having a processor connected in order to publish (see below).

Requirement to publish: a connected payment method

To publish an event you must have a valid payment processor connected under Settings → Payments. If you don't, when you try to publish the dashboard shows the message "No valid payment processor is connected for online ticket sales." and blocks the action.

This applies even if all your tickets are free. In that case the payment method is never charged or used, but it is still a requirement to publish.

Mercado Pago account (Argentina)

If your brand is in Argentina, the Mercado Pago account you connect must belong to the same person or company registered as the brand's owner and match that data.

  • In Argentina, Mercado Pago is the only supported method to receive your sales revenue linked to a bank account.
  • It is not possible to provide a third party's bank account to receive payments.
  • The money from each sale goes directly to your Mercado Pago account; Fanz does not hold it.

Note: If you prefer Fanz to collect ticket payments and settle with you, the Fanz Collects option exists (Argentina only). See the details in Payment Settings.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sell in two currencies for the same event? No. The currency is defined by the connected processor and your brand's country.

Can I change the country after creating the brand? The country is set when the brand is created and determines which processor you can connect. If you need to operate in another country, contact the Fanz team.

Does Mercado Pago accept cash payments (Rapipago, Pago Fácil)? No. The Fanz checkout with Mercado Pago excludes cash payment methods; the buyer pays with a card or with their Mercado Pago account balance.
